Basic Fire Fighting (Level 1)
This course teaches the application of fire fighting techniques in terms of NQF level 1 and is in accordance with Unit Standard: 12484.
Aimed at an organization’s selected fire fighters, the course hones in on the importance of the required skills of fire fighting. These skills are to be practised on a regular basis in order to ensure full integration – there is rarely time to think when it comes to the outbreak of a fire. The designated persons, therefore, need to have all systems drilled into their minds so that they will be ready to act, should the need arise.
We will cover a set of 5 modules that will range from an introduction to understanding and extinguishing fires as well as the relevant emergency procedures.
Basic Fire Fighting (Level 2)
This course teaches the application of fire fighting techniques in accordance with Unit Standard: 13961.
This course equips employees with the correct use of hand operated fire fighting equipment for effective extinguishing of fires.
6 modules covering the triangle of combustion, the tetrahedron of combustion and means of spreading.
Paying attention to the identification and use of water supplies and the properties of water and fire hydrants.
Covering evacuation procedures and actions to take in case of fire while setting up a fire assembly point as well as how to prevent fires in the first place.
Four modules covering topics; managing the scene of an emergency, the basic human anatomy and physiology, primary and secondary survey.
(Unit Standard: 13961 – NQF Level: 2 – Credits: 4) – Demonstrate Knowledge and Use of Hand Operated Fire Fighting Equipment.
